Damsel Nymph

Damsel Nymph (banking)

Damsel Nymph (banking)
Fly: Wally Nowak, Photographs: Hans Weilenmann

Hook: curved nymph hook, size 8 or 10
Thread: chartreuse Uni-thread
Tail: rabbit fur
Abdomen: clear liquid lace injected with cooking oil and wrapped forward. The lace is pulled to stretch near the tail, and then the tension is gradually relaxed to create a tapered body look
Wingcase: antron floss
Legs: olive hen hackle
Eyes: plastic pre-formed or burned mono
Note: This pattern should be tied to suit the colour of the lake bottom of the water you fish. You may colour the abdomen under the liquid lace lighter at the tail and gradually dark towards the thorax so that it shows through with a transluscent effect.
