Deer Hair (a.k.a. Streaking Caddis)

Fly: Thomas Züllich, Photograph: Hans Weilenmann

Hook: Partridge E1A (debarbed)
Thread: Tier's choice
Body: Orange and olive mohair wool, in split thread dubbing loop
Wing and head: Deer hair
Note: This Deer Hair pattern is also referred to as Streaking Caddis, but I found this pattern also effective during mayfly hatches. May be mismatching the hatch? Who knows. It certainly is a must have in a trout & grayling fishermen's flybox. Mohair wool as dubbing is a great material. One can obtain it for basically free at every wool shop. (I‘ve never been charged for 2- meters of wool.) The dubbing is taken by stripping it off the main strand.

A step by step can be found here.
