Fly: Thomas Schneider, Photographs: Hans Weilenmann

Hook: Tiemco 700 size 1/0
Thread: Kevlar, black
Eyes: Deepwater Eyes, Md, Lg
Tail: Zonker Strips, Purple, Black, Olive, Rust
Underbody: Estaz, cream, pearl
Body: Cross-cut Zonker strip
Antennae: Silicone Rubber, Holographic Tinsel
Collar: Ostrich Herl
Hook Guard: 35 # Test
Note: This fly has its origins in an egg sucking leach. The fly is a go to in heavy cover and weeds with its hook guard, which I do not like to use. The fly is easier to cast than the crawfish and you can cover water quicker. I think it just represents prey to hungry, as well as, defensive fish. Purple is hands down the best color for me. Spotted bass particularly favor the fly in current. Alaskan Salmon love a pink collar.
