Smithy

Fly: Bob Wyatt, Photograph: Hans Weilenmann

Hook: wide gape, medium wire, size 10-6
Thread: brown 8/0
Tail: dyed red golden pheasant tippet, tied long
Body: silver tinsel, or mylar
Hackle: badger saddle (longish, not too stiff) palmered back from eye
Rib: silver wire, wound through and counter to hackle, trapping and anchoring
Collar hackle: whole light coloured hen pheasant wing covert feather, tied longish to provide 'kick'. Fold feather, tie in by tip and wind holding feather butt

Note:

Excellent 'traditional' style sea-trout pattern, based on the old Priest. Named after Scottish actress Elaine C. Smith, wife of Wyatt's fishing pal, Bob Morton, in a pathetic attempt to curry favour. Best used as a 'bob' fly.
