Midge spinner

Fly: Ron Koenig, Photograph: Hans Weilenmann

Hook: TMC #518, sizes #30 or #32
Thread: Uni 17/0 colored with permant marker
Tail: 4 to 6 hackle barbs , dun or white
Body: Thread with prominant thorax
Wing: Light weight antron, light gray

Notes:

An effective emerger may be tied by using CDC tied in upright for the wing.

On the midges, when tying in the spinner style wing, well waxed thread adds more control. Take one - two wraps with the waxed thread before tying the wing in.
