I was born in 1966 and am a native of Omagh, in Northern
Ireland.I have been tying flies for in and around 25
years. I am no stranger to the world of competition
fly tying. I am probably better known for my Shrimp
Patterns but prefer to tie Classic Salmon Flies. I
have just completed a mammoth project completing 60
Fully Dressed Salmon Flies "The Judge" an old Bann
pattern for a limited edition book by E J Malone (Only
90 this year) due for publication soon!! The greatest
influences on my style of tying have been Marvin
Nolte, Paul Little and Peter Dunne they are the three
wise men, well two are!!!! I also admire the work of
Charlie Chute and Brian Burnett. I have been asked so
many times why I divulge so readily all the tips and
tricks I have picked up over the years. The question
is easily answered. When I started out there was no
one that I could turn to for advice let alone help.
It's good to be able to give something back to a hobby
that I derive so much pleasure from and if some one
walks away with increased knowledge and an eagerness
to get to the vice then surely the future is brighter
already.
