Hackle: 2 turns genetic black hen hackle

The Black Magic spider pattern was developed by Frederick Mold in the 1960’s, probably to represent small beetle. It certainly looks like a variation of the Peacock & Blae.

I have found this a very successful fly for those trout and grayling sipping small flies off the surface.
