Parachute Hairwing Dun

Fly: Marcus Ruoff, Photograph: Hans Weilenmann

Hook: Tiemco 100BL or 102Y (sizes 10-20 (100BL) or 11-19 (102Y))
Thread: colour of choice, I prefer either anthracite, olive or a nice deep orange
Tail: mallard fibers (if you like died in the same colour as the body dubbing)
Body: dubbing of choice
Wing post: Deer hair tied buck caddis style; colour of choice (use pink deer hair, the one used for deer hair bugs and you have one hell of a visible fly, impossible to miss)
Hackle: saddle or microbarb hackle tied parachute style around wing
Thorax: dubbing of choice
Tying notes:
One day I found this fly in my flybox, without any recollection where I got it, from whom or when. Since then I have caught heaps of fish on this fly which has proved excellent everywhere. Very very visible and floats excellently. A good searching fly but also proven for wary trout and grayling.
