Weedguard
Many of these saltwater patterns are tied in such a way that the front section of the shank is left bare. This enables the optional use of a mono weedguard such as shown on the fly shown. The weedguard can be tied in at the bench, or several weedguards can be pre-made and kept on/with the angler to be attached to the shank on the water as conditions require.
