Tube: Needle Tube (The tube used is a needle tube, 35 mm long with an outside diameter of 1.5 mm)
Thread: Uni-thread 8/0, red
Wing: Black hair (The fly shown has dyed squirrel tail)
Flash: Krystal hair, two strands
Join: Short length of PVC tubing or similar
Hook: Treble hooks: Partridge Salar tube fly treble for salmon; Partridge Needle Eye Treble (X3BL) for sea trout.

Double hooks: Fulling Mill tube fly double or Ken Sawada XD1 tube fly double.

Single Hooks: Fox Carp Hook Series 2 or 3 or Drennan Starpoint.
Background:
The needle tube flies shown have been dressed on Grays Needle Tubes, a new range of extremely slim, plastic lined, stainless steel tubes developed and manufactured in Scotland by Grays of Kilsyth.
