Brassie

Fly: John Gordon, Photograph: Hans Weilenmann

Hook: Tiemco 101 (size #22)
Thread: 8/0 Black Uni-thread
Abdomen: Brass colored copper wire
Thorax: Black super fine dubbing

Note: The original Brassie was tied with muskrat dubbing for a Thorax. Most people now use peacock herl, But in smaller sizes #22-#26 I find it easier to use super fine dubbing. Tying instructions
  1. Start thread at eye and tie in copper wire. Cover wrap the wire back towards the bend.

  2. Wrap thread back towards the eye.

  3. Wrap the wire in side by side warps to keep a nice tight segmented body.

  4. Whip finish.
