Mallard Nymph

Fly: Harald Weidler, Photograph: Hans Weilenmann

Hook: Any shrimp hook #10-16
Bead: Tungsten, gold plated
Thread: UNI 6/0 black
Underbody: Led wire, medium
Rib: Fine gold wire
Abdomen: Mallard feather died orange or yellow, twisted and wrapped around the shank
Thorax: Peacock herl
Note: The mallard feather produces a nice colored body and is durable if secured with the wire in the opposite direction. As the nymph is weighted and does not have any collars or dubbing it sinks fast and fishes where good fish reside. The best is,when you see on the strike indicator that it is touching bottom sometimes.
