Gold Ribbed Hare’s Ear Nymph

Hook: TMC 3761, #10-18
Thread: Flymaster, 6/0, rusty brown
Weight: Lead wire or similar, .020 or 0.15, about 8 turns
Tail: Fox squirrel, guard hairs, about 10 hairs
Rib: Gold wire, fine, doubled and twisted
Abdomen: Hare’s ear and mask dubbing
Wing case: Goose quill, folded, dull side out
Thorax: Fox squirrel, under fur, dubbing looped. After dubbing the thorax, fold goose quill over thorax area just behind the eye. Pick out a few hairs out of thorax area for legs.
Note: This is one of the favorite nymphs in the U.S.
