CDC Winged Caddis

Fly: Frank Thompson, Originator: Mark Petitjean, Photograph: Hans Weilenmann

Hook: TMC 100, #12 –20
Thread: M. Petitjean, 8/0, olive, silk
Body: dubbing, cream or olive, natural or poly
Wing: (1) medium Pardo, Coq De Leon, (1) olive, CDC feather and (1) golden CDC feather. Fold all three (3) feathers at same time, grab the tips of barbs with bulldog clip and cut off the stems. Separate your thread and insert the barbs in to the split thread and release barbs from clip and retwist thread with barbs. Wrap the wing onto shaft. With each turn stroke the barbs upwards on top of shank. Clip any barbs hanging down.
Note: I recommend you buy Marc Petitjean’s Majic Tools and his DVD showing how to tie six different patterns. With Marc’s tools, these flies are easy to tie.
