Packing Foam Spinner

Fly: Bruce Salzburg, Photograph: Hans Weilenmann

Hook: TMC 101
Thread: Rusty dun, 8/0
Tail: Microfibetts, split, 1.5 to 2 times shank length
Abdomen: McClean's Quill (dyed porcupine guard hair), rust
Wing: 1 mm packing foam
Thorax: Fine wool dubbing, "Rusty Spinner" color

This fly features McLean's quill material, and packing foam which captures the hyaline quality of the wing of a spent spinner, and it floats quite well. Unfortunately, the wings are not durable, so it should be used for especially picky fish.
