Crippled CDC&Elk

Pattern: Bruce Salzburg, Fly: Bruce Salzburg, Photograph: Hans Weilenmann

Hook: Light wire scud type, 12-16
Thread: Brown or grey, 6/0
Body/legs: Natural dark dun CDC feather (Type 1, or 4)
Wing: Fine tipped coastal deer hair, tied Quigley Cripple style

Notes:

The body is tied using CDC&Elk method
(click here for detailed tying instructions for producing the body & legs)
This fly fishes best when the CDC is wet and submerged, so the CDC feather need not be as good as is required for the CDC & Elk.
