Byron's Soft Hackle

Fly: Byron Haugh, Photograph: Hans Weilenmann

Hook: #14 Std. Dry Fly
Thread: Brown
Abdomen: Dazzelaire antron ribbed with fine gold mylar
Thorax: Dazzelaire antron tied in softly to allow air pockets
Hackle: 1 1/2 turns partridge
Head: Several wraps of peacock herl

Note: I have caught more fish on this fly than any other. Primarily used as a wet on the swing, but when trout are rising, you can false cast it dry and then fish it as a dry.
