American Pheasant Tail demi nymph

Fly: Bruce Harang, Photograph: Hans Weilenmann

Hook: Heavy Wire Shrimp/Caddis Hook #12 or #14
Thread: Black 8/0

Ribbing: Fine Copper Wire
Abdomen: Three Pheasant Tail fibers twisted chenille
Wing case: Pheasant Tail fibers
Thorax: Peacock herl, small
Head: Black thread

Note: The demi-style of tying uses a large hook to tie a small fly on the rear portion of the hook only. In this case a size #14 hook with a size #18 or #20 fly. This gives better hooking potential for a very small fly. The theory being that the fish fixates on the fly ignoring the oversized hook.
