Hare's Ear Nymph 2

Fly: Ashley Strutt, Photograph: Hans Weilenmann

Hook: standard nymph
Thread: Brown UNI thread
Tail: Cock pheasant side tail, the mottled side
Rib: fine gold flat tinsel
Abdomen: Hare's fur, body the example as fur from the back of the animal but flank fur (sandy coloured) seems right as a E. Danica nymph imitation
Wingcase: mottled side of a cock pheasant side tail feather, tie in as normal but fold back and cut surplus leaving a small stub
Thorax: Hare's fur, body the example as fur from the back of the animal but flank fur (sandy coloured) seems right as a E. Danica nymph imitation

Note: This variation of the Hares Ear nymph as worked very well for me in Wales, England, Ireland and Slovenia.
