Emerging Mayfly

Fly: Ashley Strutt, Photograph: Hans Weilenmann

Hook: TMC R200, first 1/3 of the hook bent in klinhamer style, size 14
Thread: UNI black
Rib: black tying thread with 2 wider bands at the bead of the hook
Abdomen: lemon mohair
Wing: fawn coloured deer hair, the best deer hair for this is thin and comes from a late winter kill Roe deer ( each skin as different shading, so check through several skin to get the right colour)
Hackle: Grizzly cock
Thorax: Claret Mr Peacock dubbing

Note: The first version of the fly had a thorax of peacock herl, the claret dubbing seems to make this fly more attractive to the fish during the mayfly hatch.
